Arknights is my pick for an all-rounder gacha game. Prior to the release of Endfield, I came back just to catch up on what I’ve been missing and the game still consistently delivers quality updates and expands its content.

The game is basically a tower defense game, and each stage is unique and challenging. It is easier to clear stages with time-limited characters as they have better stats, but I managed to complete challenging stages with freebies as well.

With that, it is somewhat friendly with standard gacha rates, but the game’s longevity is what earns it a spot on this list.

2. Wuthering Waves: Best for Open-World Exploration

Wuthering Waves is my personal pick for world-exploration, best gacha games. Of course, there’s other like Genshin Impact which has a similar gliding mechanic for easier traversal, and then there’s Endfield with even greater exploration incentive by stashing rewards in nooks and crannies.

But as it stands, WuWa has been around for a while and has refined the exploration aspect in each update. The world-building also helps immerse you in the story. But, Endfield is definitely close behind in my list, and I guarantee this new gacha game will be even better.

3. Reverse 1999: Best for Narrative & Storytelling

Reverse 1999 is the only gacha game I’ve ever played for the story. It has that same experimental vibe of an indie plot, unlike the stories in most Hoyo titles. In this game, tomorrow could also mean yesterday but time never goes beyond the year 1999.

The voice acting is a highlight, but not just for bringing the characters to life. The studio ensures the voices are unique, hence casting bilingual actors. For players who enjoy The Seven Deadly Sins: GRAND CROSS, you can also find a similar combat system here.

4. Nikke Goddess of Victory: Best for Sci-fi Character Designs

Nikke: Goddess of Victory is the top gacha game for its strong character design, well… if you can put aside the overly suggestive elements. My best picks are Maiden and Dorothy, they’re great examples of striking designs that fit the sci-fi aesthetic without feeling overly detailed.

But of course, there are designs that make this game a contender for best fan service. Honestly, characters like Nero and Julia serve less of a world-building purpose. Gameplay-wise, it’s one of the best but unfortunately, the endgame content is locked until you max dupe 5 SSR units… with a zero pity system.

5. Trickcal Chibi Go: Best for Casual Mobile Gameplay

Trickcal: Chibi Go! is the most underrated mobile live-service game. The game centers around adorable characters with dumpling cheeks, which you can pinch in the library and also throughout cutscenes and dialogues. What’s not to love about this level of interaction?

The game also features a familiar voice acting lineup from well-known animated series like Sakamoto Days and the iDOLM@STER franchise. While you only need around 10 minutes of daily grinding, you might end up staying longer just to enjoy the cuteness overload.

6. Infinity Nikki: Best for Fashion Collection

Infinity Nikki does things a bit differently from your usual best gacha games since you’re pulling individual clothing pieces to form full outfits. The pity system may seem generous at first glance, but completing a full 5-star outfit can take 150-180+ pulls since each piece is obtained separately.

Where the game really shines, though, is its world. Miraland is packed with side activities, mini-games, and discoveries. The different clothing pieces also unlock gameplay abilities that let you interact with creatures and solve environmental puzzles.

Honestly, I spent more time taking in-game pictures as it quickly turned into a cozy exploration experience. Just like Pokémon games, but you collect clothings instead.

7. NTE: Never to Everness: Best for Supernatural Urban Exploration

NTE: Neverness to Everness is one of the most freshest, best gacha game now, combining multiple game mechanics including a GTA-like urban roaming. There’s even a city guide on how to life sim your day, ranging from owning café, fishing, street racing, and even taking out your best waifu out for a drive.

The urban life is definitely it’s greatest strength, packed with pop culture easter eggs such Exit 8’s underpass and real-world landmarks like Akibahara and Dōtonbori. But it is still a new title, and there’s a lot to expect from content depth and characters to unlock.

Since it is easy to get lost in this beautiful world, you can take your time completing the main plot. Nonetheless, with Ananta lurking around the corner, promising to deliver even better urban exploration, we can only wait before comparing these two titles.

8. AFK Journey: Best for Idle Progression

AFK Journey is the sequel to AFK Arena, with the same idle RPG gameplay. It is more budget-friendly than the original because the playerbase is bigger, which means there’s a larger F2P player base. But still, if you want to rank higher during events, you still have to compete with some whales.

One thing I really like about Lilith Games’ gacha titles is their frequent collaborations with major beloved IPs like the Witcher, Assassin’s Creed, Fairy Tail, and even Dungeon Meshi. But of course, the downside is that F2P players typically can claim one of the available heroes using free in-game currency, whereas the rest will require real investment.

9. Morimens: Best for Hardcore Strategy & Deckbuilding

Morimens is one of the hardest, best gacha games I’ve ever played, making it the best game for strategy. It adopts a deckbuilding mechanic similar to Slay the Spire and an eerie Lovecraftian art style.

I really enjoy how weapons rely on dupes to power up, however, the RNG can be unforgiving at times. Alternatively, you can also play Chaos Zero Nightmare instead as it offers similar gameplay, but with a modern feel and more… fan service.

10. Love and Deepspace: Best for Otome and Romance

For otome fans and husbando collectors, Love and Deepspace is definitely the one for you, especially if you’re into games like Obey Me! and Ikemen Vampire. Each of the boys is charming in their own way, and you can date them all at the same time.

But it is also a gacha game, and banners are important for combat and also special ‘date’ scenes. The rates are quite unforgiving, and definitely harsh for F2P players wanting to date all characters. My tip is to save your free currency for your favorite characters. Overall, this is a heart-fluttering otome game to experience those K-drama butterflies.

11. Azur Lane: Best for Fan-Service

Azur Lane is, without doubt, the best game for fan service and developing parasocial relationships. The gameplay is horribly mediocre but the naval theme gives it a unique edge.

The game deserves praise for producing high-quality skins while still remaining affordable (around 20 USD per skin). The skin showcase videos can run up to 60 minutes, making it the most accessible fan service gacha game. However, Brown Dust 2 might offer better service at the expense of paying more.

12. Persona 5 The Phantom X: Best for School Life Sim

For fans of the Persona franchise, The Phantom X or Persona 5X still retains a version of the turn-based battle system. However, you can only pick the character and they will then automatically use their best move. Other than that, the usual ‘persona’ gimmick is still retain in this live-service game.

Most of the characters you want are unlockable just by progressing the story-line. The gacha mechanic comes in for powering up your party either by duplicating characters or weapons. If this game is going to be your entry point to the series, I highly recommend to go to the classic first.

13. Identity V: Best for a Full F2P Experience

Identity V is kind of a gacha game but you don’t have to participate in that system to feel satisfied. All the skins are still free and pulling is only for stuffs that don’t affect gameplay at all. For that, this is the most F2P-friendly title out there, if you even consider it a gacha game.

The game has a lot of amazing collabs with IPs like Frieren and the Promised Neverland, but it is more exciting to collect these skins because of the unique character design. The characters have a distinct “doll-like” aesthetic resembling something out of Coraline, with eerie button eyes and stylized proportions.

Just keep in mind, at its core it plays similarly to Dead by Daylight, so don’t expect relaxed exploration or action combat.

14. Raid Shadow Legends: Best for Whale-Spending Progression

Raid: Shadow Legends is definitely on everyone’s screen at least once due to its infamous aggressive marketing campaign. It is a bad game in many aspects, which made me hesitate to include it on this list. But in the end, this game fits the title I’m giving it: a gacha game that rewards those who pay more.

The graphics aren’t as great as most people say, but it still offers more than other heavily monetized titles like Diablo Immortal or Summoners War. Because of that, it earns a spot on this list. However, I’d personally steer away from whale-heavy games like this.
