Hack-and-slash roguelite Morbid Metal has outlined its Early Access plans for the rest of 2026, giving players a first look at the content and features expected to arrive in the coming months.
The roadmap comes shortly after the game’s Early Access launch on Steam, where players take control of the last surviving AI in a dystopian simulation. One of Morbid Metal’s defining mechanics allows players to switch between three characters in real time, creating combo-driven combat encounters against waves of enemies.
According to the newly released roadmap, the first major update is scheduled for May and will focus on enemy systems alongside the addition of new sub-biomes.
A second update planned for early summer will introduce new temporary and permanent upgrades, changes to the combo system, and a new aura farming feature. Later in the summer, players can expect additional routes through the Void, minigames, and a new hero character to unlock.
Beyond those milestones, the development team says fall and winter updates will expand the game with new cinematics, enemy types, boss encounters, lore content, and loot.
The roadmap also arrives alongside another milestone for the game. Morbid Metal is now officially Steam Deck Verified, meaning the title has been tested for compatibility with Valve’s handheld platform and supports full-resolution gameplay with controller functionality.
As is typical for Early Access projects, the studio says player feedback will help shape future updates and gameplay adjustments throughout development. Players interested in the game’s current state can read our Morbid Metal review for a closer look at the Early Access build.
Morbid Metal is currently available in Early Access on Steam, with a launch discount available until April 20.
